FRANCA VALERI. Una signorina snob, bugiarda no, ma reticente. A snob young lady, not untruthful, but reticent.

Due occhioni neri e pieni di vita. Di ironia.

Spassosamente antipatica nel ritratto della Signorina Snob milanese, simpatica e fracica nella caricatura della Sora Cecioni. E' lei, la divina Franca Valeri.

Pleasantly posh in the character of  The Snob Young Lady from Milan, funny and folk in Mrs Cecioni. It's she, the divine Franca Valeri.  

L'alzata di un sopracciglio, l'angolo della bocca, l'incurvatura delle spalle. Pochi tratti, precisi, mirati, per delineare personaggi strutturati, sofisticati ma reali e veri, la gente della borghesia e del popolino, che l'artista ha sempre sapientemente osservato, studiato e magistralmente interpretato. 

In lei hanno preso vita personaggi provenienti da mondi diversi, "signorine di classe" appartenenti ad  una borghesia ormai volta al declino e "signore arrivate", pettegole e perditempo al telefono, ritratti di un'Italia che ritornava alla vita, dopo il lungo periodo buio della guerra. 

Attrice di teatro sublime. Comica esilarante. Donna straordinaria. 

Dotata di un'intelligenza sopraffina e vastissima cultura, ha saputo guardare alla società del suo tempo con ironia e prenderla in giro, con saggezza.

With an eyelash up, a corner of the mouth down, the shoulders curved. Few outlines, precise and aimed to sketch complex characters, sophisticated but real and true, like people from the upper middle class and the lower class, that the artist has always looked at, studied and performend in such a brilliant way.

Many characters belonging to different worlds came to life through her, as "posh girls" members of the upper middle class already drawn to the end and "established ladies", gossiper and time-waster on the phone, portraits of Italy in its golden age, after the long and dark post-war period. 

Excellent theatre actress. Hilarious comedian. Extraordinary lady. 

Thanks to an astonishing intelligence and a wide culture, she has been good in taking the society of her time with irony and making fun of it, with wisdom.
